Innovation and Inertia: Information Technology and Education in the United States

This could be a golden age for technology in K–12 education. New pedagogies that emphasize communication, collaboration, and critical thinking are a natural fit; most teachers and students are comfortable with technology; and devices have become more affordable and accessible. Change is coming but is slowed by an insufficient awareness of what can benefit students and teachers, technology developer priorities, and institutional inertia.
